OnTrac AI Named One of Crain's Best Places to Work

New Media

OnTrac AI has been named one of Crain's Detroit Business's Best Places to Work in Southeast Michigan for 2026.

It's worth being precise about what this particular award is, because the methodology is the whole point. This isn't a list you apply to with a well-written submission, a good marketing team, and a fee that feels like it’s “pay to play”. The ranking is driven largely by confidential survey responses from our own employees who share their genuine thoughts on our leadership team, communication, growth potential, trust, and how they feel about the work.

We didn't write those answers. Our team did. That's the reason this award means so much to us.

OnTrac AI is featured alongside the other remarkable companies on Crain's Detroit Business.

Growth is the real test of a culture

Anyone can run a positive workplace with a handful of people. The hard part is holding onto it, and evolving it, while you grow.

Our team has tripled since 2024, bringing together incredible talent across the US and India, and we’re now slowing down.

That kind of pace is where maintaining a culture is especially hard to do. When you're hiring fast, the people who are new to the company start to outnumber the people who got you there in the first place. Standards get set by whoever happens to be in the room. Most fast-growing companies don't choose to give up culture to create growth and velocity. They just look up one day realize that’s what happened.

Our team at OnTrac AI was deliberate about not letting that happen, and the survey results suggest it worked.

What we actually did

We hired for the culture, not around it. Every hire has been evaluated on whether they raise the bar for how we work together, not just whether they can fill an open seat. That has meant leaving roles open longer than we'd prefer. It's been worth it every time.

We treat two geographies as one team. Our US and India teams are not a client-and-vendor arrangement, and we don't talk about them that way internally. US leads own customer relationships and architecture; our India team owns implementation depth and velocity. Both sides sit in the same conversations, hear the same customer context, and share credit for the same outcomes. This is the single biggest reason we can deliver in months instead of years. It’s also a driver of why our people stay.

We kept the work interesting. Our team is building custom AI solutions, agentic automation, intelligent document processing, RAG-grounded knowledge systems, and machine learning programs for enterprise clients. Nobody here is here to maintain someone else's legacy systems. We’re building what we’re good at, and what energizes us, and everyone can feel it.

A team worth being proud of

Our team now spans two countries, several time zones, and a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. That diversity isn't a side effect of expansion; it's a large part of why the work is good. Different points of view see problems differently, and a company that solves problems for a living cannot afford a room where everyone thinks the same way.

To everyone at OnTrac AI: thank you!! You are the reason Crain’s Detroit Business saw that we’re building something special. Every one of you had a hand in this.
